Unfortunately, Mary is still having presenting problems. She relived the traumatic event over and over again until the feelings she was having were unbearable. An objective personality test exposes subjects to a series of questions with restricted answers, such as true/false or scale rating. The best known projective test is the Rorschach inkblot test, in which a subject is shown a series of irregular but symmetrical inkblots, and asked to explain what they see. The respondent will be asked to provide information about what type of a picture is shown – what are the characters present; what are the emotions present in these characters or you can also ask what will happen further. Projective techniques, including TATs, tat and rorschach, are used in qualitative marketing research, for example to help identify potential associations betweenbrand images and the emotions they may provoke. What are the people thinking or feeling? Since behaviours can be very different, even for people with the same diagnosis, they may not give an accurate diagnostic assessment. If she had only quit her job that night, and gone and picked her husband up, he would still be alive. She lost her husband that night and herself too. The primary purpose of projective tests is to measure and evaluate ones individual personality.

While the purpose of projective tests is to get at subconscious content, some believe the tests simply measure content that is connected to the individual’s most recent experiences, rather than their deepest subconscious desires. Instead of being scored to a universal standard as with an objective personality test, content from projective tests is analyzed for meaning. To study implicit attitudes, cognitive psychologists use a derivation of Jung’s word association test, called the implicit association test. A projective test, in psychology, is a personality test designed to let a person respond to ambiguous stimuli, presumably revealing hiddenemotions and internal conflicts. Carl Jung actually developed one projective test, called the word association test, which asks respondents to state the first word that enters their mind when given another word. The candidates are required to appear in a written test and on clearing this exam, the successful candidates are called for the interview, popularly called the SSB interview, which is a two step process. This test flashes pictures, names or other associational stimuli rapidly on a computer screen and respondents indirectly evaluative the stimuli as positive or negative.
